"SHINING STAR”

SHINING STAR

Montevallo Main Street’s Design Committee hosted a small dedication ceremony for the sculpture, entitled “Shining Star,” on Friday, May 26th 2023 at Bicentennial Park.

This sculpture, created and painted by Maya Metz Logue, was dedicated in loving memory of the late Robin Nance Metz, a beloved local artist, community member, and friend.

The sun was originally part of a larger sculpture project installed at Montevallo Elementary School in 2007 by University of Montevallo professor Ted Metz and his students.

Bicentennial Park is a pocket park located in the heart of downtown Montevallo, Alabama in front of the Main Street Tavern. This beautiful park features a large antique-style clock and acts as a gateway to the Main Street District. Dedicated in 2017, this new addition to the parks system provides a beautiful area to visit, eat lunch, or take photos with friends.
